Design
Course Description:
The Internet and the World Wide Web in particular have changed the way we do
and communicate. The creation of HTML (HyperText Markup Language) and the
invention of the Web browser make it all possible. This course introduces
HTML and other important technologies used in creating high-impact websites.
Topics covered include text and page formatting and linking, graphics
production, important design and development issues, and publishing and
updating sites.
Prerequisite:
Microsoft Word or equivalent basic word processing skills.
Course Requirements: You must attend 75% of classes and produce one
multi-page website of 7 or more pages with graphics and using a style sheet
for fonts.

Day Two
- Basic HTML tags (HTML, HEAD,
Title, body, bgcolor, text, link, vlink, alink, Headline tags, bold,
italic, teletype, font size, font color, a href, mailto:, paragraph, br,
lists, align, div, img src, hr)
- Naming conventions and
standards
- Writing Clean HTML
- Use of color (hex vs. names)
- Format resume for web using
basic tags
- FTP (onto your own account
or New School account set up for class)
Assignment: Bring in URLs of
two sites Рone you like and one you donմ. Present what you like about the
one and what you do not like about the other. Please write down your
analyses to hand in after discussion.

pages using: bgcolor, hr, font face, size and color, lists (OL and UL, disc
and square), at least one graphic, at least on hyperlink. FTP/Upload these
to your own account or New School account. Bring URL to class next week.
